Binge-watching ‘The Walking Dead?’ You might feel like a zombie yourself

Binge-watching is a great way for young adults to catch up on multiple episodes of their favorite television series like “The Walking Dead” or “Game of Thrones,” but it comes at a price. New research by the University of Michigan and the Leuven School for Mass Communication Research in Belgium found that higher binge-viewing frequency leads to poorer sleep quality, more fatigue and increased insomnia, while regular TV viewing does not. “Our study signals that binge viewing is prevalent in young adults and that is may be harmful to their sleep,” said co-author Jan Van den Bulck, U-M professor of Read more »

The Walking Dead’s Chad Coleman: ‘I aspire to be Tyreese in my own life’

Chad Coleman looks back fondly upon his time on The Walking Dead as Tyreese and hopes that he can be more like the character in his own personal life. When it comes to complicated characters on The Walking Dead, there might not be one up to the level of Tyreese. The character played by Chad Coleman seemed like a contradiction at times, but always held onto his values. It was interesting to watch an individual with the size and power of Coleman play a character like Tyreese, who frowned upon any kind of violence unless it was absolutely necessary. Sadly, Read more »

Original Walking Dead Artist Shares His Version of Glenn’s Death Scene

Comic book artist Tony Moore, who served as the original artist for The Walking Dead comics has shared his own depiction of Glenn’s death in the iconic 100th issue of the comics. Portrayed in the popular TV adaptation by Steven Yeun, Glenn’s demise has become almost a perfect translation of the events that transpired in the source material to the small screen with him meeting his end at the cruel hands (and barbed wire-wrapped bat named Lucille) of Negan during the season 7 premiere. And while the show is really known for gruesome deaths, this particular one is still a Read more »

Can Season 8 Really Fix The Walking Dead’s Pacing Problems?

Dreadfully Slow Season 7 Worries Fans Even after fans got over Negan’s brutal murders in last year’s Season 7 premiere, the rest of the season was dreadfully slow. The second half of the season was certainly better than the first, but some fans are worried the show will continue to have problems with pacing. When adapting a grander story for television, the writers can really explore the characters but that sometimes can wander too far. The worst rated episode last season was Oceanside’s Read more »

Reminder: Glenn’s Death in the Walking Dead Comic Books Is More Disgusting Than You Could Possibly Imagine

The Walking Dead’s writers chose to end their season six finale with a massive, frustrating cliffhanger that deprived fans of the knowledge of who the show’s newest villain, Negan, brutally murders in the final seconds of the episode. We now know (for better or for worse) who is on the receiving end of the bat: Abe, then Glenn. Abe famously dies in the comics with an arrow through the eye, but since Denise takes that death instead on the show, his storyline has been a bit of a loose thread. The premiere sees Abe beat senseless first, before Glenn is Read more »
