The Walking Dead synopses for the rest of season 8 hint at the end of All-Out War

With all the talk about Carl’s exit in The Walking Dead season 8 episode 9, it’s easy to forget that Rick Grimes still has a war to win.

Yes, All-Out War continues to rage on. And from the newly available episode synopses for episodes 12 through to 16, it sounds like there will be resolution to the whole Rick vs Negan drama in time for the end of this year’s season finale.

There may be spoilers below, as we try to dissect what these episode descriptions (via Zap2it) mean…

Maggie Greene played by Lauren Cohan, The Walking Dead, Season 8

Episode 12: “Hilltop’s leadership faces a difficult dilemma after the arrival of unexpected visitors; Rick comes face to face with an adversary.”

We already know that the Alexandrians plan to travel to Hilltop and that’s where the final stand will be. Is that who the “unexpected visitors” are? Or should we expect an altogether different group – like Oceanside (who Aaron and Enid are trying to recruit for their cause), or the Saviors launching an attack?

And which adversary will Rick be facing off against? Maybe it will be a Savior like Negan or Simon.

Episode 13: “Trouble arises when unexpected visitors arrive at the Hilltop and the community is thrust into action; heartbreaking discoveries are made.”

It seems like this episode will be pretty action-packed, with a battle unfolding at Hilltop.

Episode 14: “A Heaps prisoner makes a discovery; Carol searches for someone in the nearby forest; Rick and Morgan find themselves in the company of strangers.”

A member of the Scavengers appears to be taken captive by Rick’s militia. We wouldn’t put it past the writers to incorporate a bit of role reversal and have Jadis be Rick’s prisoner.

Daryl Dixon played by Norman Reedus, The Walking Dead, Season 8

Episode 15: “With the threat of the Saviors still looming, Aaron continues searching for allies; Daryl and Rosita take action and confront an old friend.”

The “old friend” Daryl and Rosita encounter could be Eugene. That would make the most sense – does ‘taking action’ mean the duo decide to kidnap him? Will Eugene finally move back to Team Rick?

Episode 16: “The communities join forces in the last stand against the Saviors as all-out war unfolds.”

The “last stand” implies that the war reaches its climax. Everybody joining forces could mean that Rick and his trusted team have managed to galvanise Alexandria, Hilltop, the Kingdom, and maybe even Oceanside and the Scavengers into squaring off against the Saviors.
