Michael Traynor’s Hilarious ‘The Walking Dead’ Crossover Plan To Bring Nicholas Back, Kind Of

Though Nicholas’ last words on The Walking Dead were “Thank you,” the show’s creator is saying “No, thank you,” to Michael Traynor’s idea for the big crossover. After all, the idea is mostly one which centers around Traynor heading back to the apocalypse since he had so much fun working on The Walking Dead before Nicholas bowed out atop of dumpster surrounded by zombies in Episode 6×03, Thank You. “I pitched it to Robert Kirkman once,” Traynor said. “I said, ‘Hey, wouldn’t it be awesome if Nicholas had a slightly more heroic twin on the west coast. Robert was really Read more »

‘WALKING DEAD’ DIRECTOR EXPLAINS WHY CONSERVATIVES AND LIBERALS LOVE ZOMBIES

Although The Walking Dead’s ratings are lagging, its viewer demographics have remained as diverse as ever. American conservatives in the South, who gravitate toward shows like Duck Dynasty and Fast and Loud, watch The Walking Dead—but liberals tune in regularly, too. Speaking over the phone with Newsweek, director Greg Nicotero said he has a few theories about why the fear of zombies transcends our country’s political divide. “Our show asks you to contend with your own mortality, which is the one thing none of us are ever going to outsmart,” Nicotero said. “You’ll never trick it, you’ll never figure it Read more »

Who Exactly Is Morales, The Walking Dead’s Weirdest Throwback Cameo So Far?

Who Exactly Is Morales, The Walking Dead’s Weirdest Throwback Cameo So Far?

Last night’s episode of The Walking Dead was in a word….incoherent. It was certainly exciting I suppose, almost non-stop fighting and gunfire as Rick’s group splintered and did various…things all around the map. It was hard to keep track of who exactly was doing what at which location and what the goals were (steal weapons? kill everyone? all of the above?), but one of the weirder locations was Rick, Daryl and a small group at some unspecified building where there was supposed to be a heavy weapons cache, according to their spy, Dwight. Spoilers for last night follow. Rick and Read more »

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8, Episode 2 Review: None Of That Made Any Sense

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 8, Episode 2 Review: None Of That Made Any Sense

I don’t understand what’s happening with The Walking Dead. I don’t understand how it’s come to this, how it’s fallen so far. An episode like ‘The Damned’ ought to have been exciting, tense and surprising, with lots of action and the return of a character we haven’t seen in years. Instead, it was confusing, with very little tension and lots of oddly forced moments. This is how TV shows die, not with a bang but with a whimper. What we’re watching isn’t high-stakes drama, it’s a slow-motion train wreck. In any case, this Sunday we pick back up pretty close Read more »

How Morgan Is Already Living on Borrowed Time on The Walking Dead

How Morgan Is Already Living on Borrowed Time on The Walking Dead

Fans of The Walking Dead comic series will know that the evolution of Morgan James on screen has differed quite significantly from the written version — chiefly, if it were strictly up to Robert Kirkman, our staff-slinging friend here would’ve been long gone by now. If the show had been more faithful to the comics, Morgan would’ve had a romantic relationship with Michonne (cue all the Richonne shipper rage), and, more importantly, Morgan wouldn’t have made it through the walker invasion of Alexandria in season six. That might’ve been better for him, in a way, because he wouldn’t have lived Read more »

Was Negan Shot In ‘The Walking Dead’ Episode 8×01?

Was Negan Shot In ‘The Walking Dead’ Episode 8×01?

After a season living under Negan’s boots, Rick Grimes is fighting back. In last Sunday’s season 8 opener, Rick lead a coalition consisting of soldiers from Alexandria, the Hilltop colony and the Kingdom, rolling up to Negan’s front door with an army and a fleet of reinforced vehicles. During a standoff with Negan, Rick called out the Savior leader from cover, promising he’d kill Negan. Counting down from ten, Rick opened fire at “seven” — causing Negan and his lieutenants to duck for safety. While Simon, Gavin, Regina, Dwight and Eugene withdrew inside, Negan dove downwards, ending up on the Read more »

Simply Put, ‘The Walking Dead’ Needs To Focus On Being Less Stupid

Simply Put, ‘The Walking Dead’ Needs To Focus On Being Less Stupid

The Walking Dead has returned, and the bulk of season 8 is still ahead of us. But what we saw last week in the premiere, while not the mentally-scarring, brutal bloodbath of season 7, worried me all the same. The show continues to have issues, and it could benefit a lot by focusing on one problem in particular: The Walking Dead needs to be less stupid. I’m not trolling, I’m not just trying to be mean and insult a production that I’m sure a lot of people are working hard on. But I do think one of the core issues Read more »

Who Are “The Damned” In ‘The Walking Dead’?

Who Are “The Damned” In ‘The Walking Dead’?

The Walking Dead airs its second episode of season 8 tonight, “The Damned,” and the synopsis teases an action-packed battle royal: The plan involving Alexandrians, Kingdommers and Hilltoppers unfolds. As Rick continues to fight, he encounters a familiar face. It’s the latter part that has us intrigued: a familiar face will be returning to Rick’s world, and there are only a few candidates who make sense. Could this “familiar face” be who the title refers to as “the damned?” Maybe the returning character is someone who was doomed — or believed to be doomed? The episode will also continue straight Read more »

Some Fan Theories Are Nonsense But This One About “The Walking Dead” Makes Sense

The Walking Dead returned for its eighth season and 100th episode on Sunday, featuring Rick and company going on the offensive against Negan and The Saviors. Along with a new season came a new fan theory. Along with a new season came a new fan theory. Towards the end of the episode, all hell broke loose as Rick and his people shot up The Sanctuary. Amidst the chaos, Father Gabriel spotted Gregory, who’d betrayed the group, in danger. Instead of leaving him, Gabriel ran to his side. Gregory wound up stealing Gabriel’s car, leaving him to fend for himself and Read more »
