The Walking Dead suffered its biggest ratings dip in five years last Sunday. Don’t fret, though, Walking Dead fans, your favorite show might be about reanimated zombie hordes, but it’s hardly shambling. The post-apocalypse drama was still the highest-rated television show in the under-50 demographic for the night and managed to draw in 8.92 million viewers. The Walking Dead faced stiff competition on Sunday night. There was Stranger Things on Netflix, The Deuce‘s season finale, Sunday Night Football, and, oh yeah, the most exciting game in the 113-year history of the World Series. “The Damned” was still by far the most-watched episode of any program on cable that night, but it was the least-watched episode of the series in five years. “The Walking Dead’s” ratings woes continued into the second week of the megahit AMC show’s eighth season. According to Nielsen Live+Same Day data, the episode airing on Oct. 29 drew a 4.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 8.9 million viewers. Not only is that a drop of approximately 20 percent in both measures from the Season 8 premiere last Sunday, but it is also the show’s lowest ratings since Season 2.
